Patients connect to a computer using sensors that allow the computer to record their brainwave activity. These sensors are noninvasive and painless. The sensors simply receive the brainwaves emitted by the brain, and carry them to the computer for amplification and recording by the BrainCore software.
Information about these brainwaves is displayed on the provider’s monitor. The BrainCore Neurofeedback software automatically detects when the brainwaves are properly ordered, and it feeds that information back to the patient in real time through training media chosen by the patient, which is a movie, or TV show.
For example… during a BrainCore session, (see video below) when the brain waves are in the optimal range, the patient is rewarded by watching the movie with a clear, bright picture. But if your brain waves slip into an abnormal range, the screen fades to a darker, more shaded picture; this negative reinforcement notifies the patient’s brain to move toward the optimal working range.
As this feedback loop continues the patient is actually controlling the training with their brain; and by doing so, the brain is learning how to regulate itself. The more those brain waves are driven and used – the more neuroplasticity changes take hold. The patient learns how to use those brain wave patterns during the demands of everyday life. (i.e. better mood, less stress/anxiety, better cognition)
As easy as watching your favorite movie...
